On 27 July 2024, the workshop for the representatives of regional media outlets was held. The event was organised by the Supreme Election Commission (SEC) of Adjara, with the support of the Council of Europe (CoE) program entitled "Supporting the transparency, inclusiveness, and credibility of the electoral practice and process in Georgia". Parmen Jalaghonia, the SEC Chairman and Svetislav Paunovich, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia made the opening remarks. The meeting moderator was Maia Jorjikia, Senior Project Officer at the Council of Europe.
Rasto Kuzel, a media and election expert, spoke about the recommendations of the Council of Europe on the increasing importance of the role of regional media in electoral processes, election communication and election campaigns.
Representatives of the meeting actively engaged in discussions to improve the election and media environment. They covered some key aspects of the electoral process, elections and media assistance, election day and reporting, exit polls and political advertising.
As part of the workshop, the participants discussed challenges related to the electoral process, disinformation, and pertinent issues.
