On the occasion of Global Elections Day, the Supreme Election Commission (SEC) hosted representatives of the Youth Regional Center. In his address, the Chair of the SEC, Parmen Jalaghonia, noted that one of the objectives of Global Elections Day is to ensure maximum public awareness of the importance of elections and to raise youth engagement in the electoral process. Discussions were held during the meetings.
Global Elections Day has been celebrated annually since 2005,on the initiative of the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO).The date is observed on the first Thursday of February.
